Samed Island or Samet Island is located in Rayong province just 200 km southeast of Bangkok along the eastern coast of the Gulf of Thailand. It is very close to the coast of a traditional fishing village named Ban Phe.

It takes only 2.5 hours to drive by car from Bangkok via the modern Motorway and only 2 hours if you are driving directly from Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi International Airport.

Resort Location
Tonsak Resort is located in the center of the most beautiful 'Had Sai Kaew' beach of Koh Samed. It is in the northeastern part of this small island.

Get to Ban Phe from Bangkok
From Ekamai (Eastern) Bus Terminal, air-conditioned buses of CherdchaiTour leave every hour from 5.00 a.m. to 8.30 p.m.for Ban Phe. The BTS Skytrain Station "Ekamai" is conveniently located adjacent to the terminal. The fare is THB. 163* for one-way and THB. 306* for round-trip. The bus terminates just opposite the ferry Pier to Samed Island. For arrangements, please call 02-391 2237.

From the Victory Monument, in the center of Bangkok air-conditioned 10-seat passenger vans also leave hourly for Ban Phe from 6.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. with a one-way fare of THB. 200*. The coaches send passengers right to the ferry pier at Ban Phe. For arrangements, please call 084-760 1702 or 084-761 1772.

From Ban Phe Terminal Bus Station, CherdChaiTour coach service runs air-conditioned buses to Bangkok's Ekamai Bus Terminal hourly from 4.00 a.m to 7.00 p.m. with a one-way fare of THB. 163*.

Car Rentals
The Tour Counter at many big hotels in Bangkok provide car rental services. Road signs are in Thai and English and rental firms provide maps and suggested itineraries. Drivers must have an international or Thai driver's license and be over 21 by law.

Ferries to Samed Island
The passenger ferry leaves hourly from Ban Phe to Samed Island at Nuantip pier from 8.00 am. to 6.00 pm. Its takes about 30 minutes to arrive at the main pier of the island (called Na-dan pier).The fare is THB. 100* for round-trip passenger. At the pier visitors can take a "Songtaew" (a roofed open back pickup truck with bench seats) or take a 5-minute walk to reach Tonsak Resort.

Travel in Samed Island
Mini-buses or "Song Thaews" are plentiful and continuously drive around the main areas of Samed Island. It is still wise to negotiate prices before boarding and fares beyond the bay are also negotiable.
